I have a friend who inspired me. She opened a blog to let out her daily observations on life. She's very good at it.
I, however, am not. Believe me, I've tried. I'm from a very creative family, so I began to think at a very young age I had a birthright to become Picasso or Hemmingway. Sadly, I think I got the math gene.
My ruminations on my daily occurences, thoughts, feelings (some would say I have neither) and wanderings proved to be very banal when typed in. Also, my loathing for navel-gazing and narcissism kicked in.
Blogging was not for me.
Then I quit smoking.
Most people quit because it, at some point, adversely affects them. I, however, loved smoking. Apart from one small incident, it has not affected me. I came to the realization that as much as I loved it, it was bad for me.
I broke up with smoking.
So, the inevitable substitution plan began. This involved food......lots of it.
While I was was munching on my onion rings at Wally's (review coming soon!), I decided to take my inspiration that my friend had given me (blogging) and combine it with my current withdrawl symptoms (eating).
Hence, the Greasy Spoon Diaries were born.
